Violent Armed Robbery - THIS CASE HAS BEEN PARTIALLY SOLVED!

2 OUT OF 3 has been caught and prosecuted

On May 14, 2009 at approximately 12:30 am, CLYPEUS — a yacht belonging to English Tourists John & Suzanne Dyer, was robbed by three swimmers armed with a gun, a cutlass and a large knife.
In efforts to assist The Portsmouth Police, The Portsmouth Community Watch Foundation Inc (PCWF) are alerting chosen members of the public to keep an open eye and ear for the listed items and individuals that may be linked to them. They are suspected to be in their early 20s.

To ensure the complete success of this effort, it is impera-tive that this be done in a professional and most discreet manner.

The members of the PCWF wholly appreciates your humble and sincere participation as we all strive to make Portsmouth a safer place; and with a hasty solving of this case prevent future crime.

BE MINDFUL:

These TOURISTS were brutally attacked by these assailants: They were beaten, their lives threatened and their dignity robbed—left to feel disgraced & degraded

This reflects negatively on Dominica and could harm the prosperity of the Yachting Industry & The Tourism Industry at large.

If this case is not solved quickly it may stimulate more vicious acts of this nature.

We have decided to bypass Dominica because of incidents like this. There's too
many other safe places to go, why risk your safety here? Clean up your act
folks.

I have a yacht out of Texas, I would very much like to visit your beautiful
island. I know that if the community is really serious they can turn a crime
ridden area into a great place to see. I will watch for indications that it is
again safe.

Please note your updated headline is not accurate - one of those that committed
this crime is still on the run from police.

For ruining our lives as well as
the tourist reputation of Dominica the two who were caught have been sentenced
to just two years.

Of all the valuable equipment and cash that was stolen only
a laptop (now ruined) and a camera have been returned to us.
Public Relations  - Update     |205.217.237.xxx |2009-07-18 10:46:08
I was informed that one of the judge sentenced them to 2 years but they are to
appear in court today in front of another judge that's noted for his
ruthlessness and I'm sure this sentencing will be more than two years. You will
be informed accordingly.

We have been trying by all means necessary to bring
about alot of awareness as to whats going on in our community with very little
support from the rest of the public, but its something we believe will soon
shift and change to a better degree of support for our mission and guaranteeing
safety in our community.

The reason two of the three were caught was because they robbed another yacht
just seven weeks later and beat the woman even worse than me - broken ribs and a
gash on the head requiring stitches.

This following attack happened because
the full truth about the violence in our attack has been suppressed to try to
protect Dominica's tourist industry.

I commend the Community Watch for its
efforts, but unfortunately the yachting community and other tourists do not know
of this website.

I do not believe that anyone in this community tolerates any kind of attacks on
anyone. To say that the only reason these guys were apprehended is because they
were robbed another yacht is false and tends to minimize the tremendous amount
of work put into apprehending this criminals by the Portsmouth Community Watch
Foundation, Portsmouth Association for Yacht Security, Portsmouth Police and the
community at large. A more accurate statement would be to indicate that those
guys were dumb enough to perpetrate another crime while we were on their trail.
The magistrate, in his comments at the second trial, took special note that this
was some of the best police work he saw on this island.

Special note should be
taken of the fact that Dominica is NOT a first world country with all the state
of the art police investigative tools and specially trained police officers. We
are doing the best that can be done with the cards that has been dealt to us.
People get mugged and assaulted everyday in large cities in first world
countries and the crimes go unsolved for years upon years. Trying to portray
Dominica as soft on crime is inaccurate and may be bordering on malicious. Do
note that the criminals were sentenced to 6 years each by the magistrate who
presided over the second case.

We feel for Susan, her husband and all the
others who got assaulted and believe that one assault is one too many but the
reality of life still prevails.

Just a side note, the daughter of my very good
friend went to New York to study. She was killed and burned in her apartment
more than 2 years ago and the New York Police are still unable to make an
arrest.

I had my MP3 player stolen by the individuals working at the bag storage at
Whitchurch IGA in Roseau. Is there any hope of me getting it back?

Please let
me know of any information I can use to retrieve it. I'm attending school at
Ross University and some very important files are contained there.

I really doubt you will get that Mp3 player back. You could report to Whitchurch
see if they could question the guy in the bag storage see if any leads can be
met but I truly believe this wouldn't work in your favour sorry to say . Very
sad situation to loose your documents on there.
