After much anticipation, built through endless publicity and campaigning, The Portsmouth Community Watch Foundation (PCWF) was officially launched to the general public. This momentous occasion took place on Thursday 19 March, 2009 at the Central Credit Union Convention Center, in the heart of Portsmouth.

Dominica government approves policy on crime prevention and control

The government of Dominica has approved a policy on crime prevention and control in the country taken at a Cabinet meeting last month.According to a government press release, the aim of the policy is to take appropriate measures to preserve the reputation of Dominica as being a safe place to reside in, by striving for even lower crime rates and a heightened sense of safety among citizens and visitors alike.

Trends in Dominica Over the Last 21 Years

A popular opinion among Dominica nationals, including policy makers, is that increased crime on the Island is primarily due to lack of economic developments. Therefore, increased economic developments are expected to significantly reduce incidents of crime in Dominica. For the first time, this opinion is tested by empirical research and has been determined to be false.
